The Item Upgrader in World of Warcraft
The War Within introduced two gear upgrade currencies: Valorstones and Harbinger Crests. These can be exchanged at the NPCs for upgrading items, Cuzolth and Vaskarn.
Each item can be upgraded to the highest level for a particular slot at a time. Afterward, upgrades to that slot will be cheaper. Additionally the pity system introduced in The War Within lowers extreme variation in the chance to upgrade.
Upgrades
In gaming upgrades are the replacements of components that improve performance or add new features. Upgrades can be earned or purchased in a variety of ways including through in-game events or cash shop items.
As opposed to enchantments that can be incorporated into any item, upgrades are tied to specific items and can only be applied to the items. A weapon that is already equipped cannot be upgraded. Certain items can be upgraded more than once and provide a greater benefit to the player.
Upgrades are a relatively recent mechanic introduced in patch 4.1.0. The upgrade system lets players combine additional improvements to equipment to increase its power, from a simple boost in strength to massive damage and defense increases. The upgrades are divided into tracks and each track has an upper limit on the amount of upgrades that can be completed. The limits are in place to prevent players from spamming low keystone dungeons for equipment, only to upgrade it up to.

Consumables, weapons, and armor are all upgradeable items. Most gear is already upgraded as it drops however, certain items (such as Ornn's gear, or the infant Dracolich pet) cannot be upgraded. Equipment can be upgraded to higher levels by buying a recipe from an upgrade vendor, and then adding it to an item in the correct upgrade slot. The icon of the item or searching for it in the shop will show how many upgrades this piece of equipment is equipped with.
There are two main disadvantages to the upgrade system. First, item upgrade can be difficult to identify which items can be upgraded as upgrade vendors don’t always show all of them. The upgrade textures are rendered over the item model which hides enchantment information as well as other details.
Another drawback is that upgrades are costly. Every step in a gear's level of upgrade costs a certain amount of Valorstones or crests based on the slot and item level. Weapons typically require more crests and Valorstones to upgrade than bracers or gloves for instance. There are however a few items in the cash shop that can help lower the cost of upgrading.
Recycle
In the wake of an increasing awareness of how single-use products and wasteful habits contribute to environmental degradation many people are changing their shopping habits. Many people purchase high-quality products that will last longer, or recycle their old gadgets to find an answer. Some are focusing on recycled items and looking for the most recycled content in their purchases. This will hopefully reduce the amount of resources needed to produce and extract new materials, and create a more sustainable world.
Recycling is an integral aspect of this process and it is now more accessible to consumers. Many items, including paper and furniture are made from recycled materials to them. These items are made from re-used or discarded materials. You can buy them online or in the store. In addition to helping the environment they are also more affordable than their counterparts.
When an item is upgraded it can be given additional bonuses alongside its increased main stat. These bonuses vary depending on the item's tier and may come in different forms. People with higher tiers will receive more bonuses than those who have lower levels.
As the world economy shifts from extracting resources to recycling and reusing more companies are making commitments to create products that are more sustainable. Many are focusing their efforts on recycling materials and providing incentives to customers who recycle their products. As the demand for sustainable products increases, we will likely see more recycled products in shops and on the shelves.
Rerolls
In Genshin Impact - or any gacha game for that matter - rerolling is an essential tool. It allows players to try their chances of getting the specific weapon or character that they either want for aesthetic reasons or because they feel that it's a good fit on their team.
Rerolls allow players to refresh items available for the current waves in exchange for a small amount of materials. Prices of these weapons rise when the number of rerolls increase, but some items may not be available (for instance, characters that only use ranged weaponry won't see a melee item).
When an item levels up it enters the Staple Pool where it gains additional bonuses. These bonuses are based on what type of item it. For instance, an upgrade which boosts the weapon's main stat will also boost its additional stats. The additional stats can also change if the item rerolled.
If a player has the ability to reroll, they can click on an icon with arrows that are circling to swap their item for another. The new item will be of the same level but it will come with a different set of bonuses, based on whether the previous item was a gun, sword, watch or book.
Rerolling doesn't alter the bonus levels of an item. However players may have to meet the minimum stats for its special ability. This can make it difficult to find a high-level item that has the bonus they desire but it also allows them to try for another alternative in the future, without having to spend more money.
Upgrading an item won't just increase the value of its bonuses, it can also give the item a tier boost and, consequently, it will be guaranteed to get a specific amount of bonus stats if upgraded in the future. This is a big reason why it's essential to upgrade your gear as much as you can, since when you reach a level that upgrades won't make any significant difference, it's not worth it.
Sets
A set is a set of items that are connected by a property. They are commonly used in the field of mathematics, and can be represented with an equivalence notation such as . Sets possess a variety of important properties, including the associative and commutative properties. These properties are important in understanding how sets function and have real-world applications.
Items can be upgraded to get additional benefits in the game. For instance an armor set pieces may give a boost to the armour's defense, while a weapon may offer an additional damage base. These additional stats are applied following the base stat of the item, and before the percentages and flats. These additional stats could be a good way to add value to an item.
When an item is upgraded, it will replace the base stat with the new one. For instance, a weapon with 20 base damage would now have 40 base damage. It will also preserve the previous armor value and upgrade requirements. This is a great way to get a high-quality item at a low price.
Upgrading exclusive items can be extremely profitable, especially when the item is equipped with an interesting mod. For instance, a rare belt that has +5 IAS could have a massive impact on the strength of a building especially in early hell. It's also a great way to increase the value of a unique item by injecting it with a high or perfect roll.
Item Upgraders differ for unique, set and rare items. When an item reaches level 10, it will usually be upgraded back to its base type. For instance upgrading a unique item with the highest defense roll will result in an armor item of elite quality that has the same base type. This is not a guaranteed result, and there are occasions when an upgrade won't alter the type of the base item.
It is suggested that players focus on upgrading their BiS (Best in Slot) items first, and then other non-BiS items. This will ensure that players have an excellent foundation to build on for leveling up, and can focus on increasing their tiers as well as increasing their stats.
