World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.
Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's basic stats increase when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the variety of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.
The level of an item is a widely used measure of power, and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.
When deciding to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the levels of the item. item upgrader 's a measure of the damage and quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor is possible using the level of the item.
On PC, you are able to view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are various theories about how the item level calculation is made. One theory states that the level of an item is determined by an equation that determines the value of the stats of an item really are. It takes into account the fact that various perks have different value and that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
This is not the only factor that influences the value of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher value.
Item Stats
Item stats can make or break an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The base stats of a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat mods which are then enhanced by the player's level.
Upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers will be upgraded several times, at higher costs.
Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could provide the item extra damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an additional name to the item.
Currently, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the specified range, unless it is a unique item or an item that is a God roll from a boss of a raid.
This is another aspect that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or choosing which stats to boost. But as with base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item basis and the item compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
item upgrade can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.
Additionally, certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are a costly process and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are item upgrading which allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.
The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limits to how much success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing cannot be greater than 100%..
The success of an item can be affected by the Luck of that item. Every item has an average success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
The upgrade overlays for items are displayed above items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
